December is the summer in Mauritius, so expect hot weather. As December falls inside the cyclone season, you might get lucky and be able to surf some waves formed by a cyclone , when it's still far away of course and pretty safe. Where are you planning on staying? As far as i remember you can rent a board in Tamarin and Belle Mare (north east) where there is a kitesurfing and surfing school. Incredible hotel! i sure loved sitting at the bar next to the pool in the evening and just admiring the sunset with my wife. They also have a small "attraction" which i liked very much, it was a sort of expo sale of model ships. those things are incredible! I stayed there about a year ago.
